When out
for a Summer run in 1993, and on passing by Corskellie Farm, Rothiemay, I
was surprised to see several large stones lying at the road side on the
top of a mound, next to the New Farm Buildings. On closer inspection I
found that one of the stones was covered in large Cup and Ring Marks and
it was obvious that this had been a Recumbent Stone of a once large
Neolithic stone circle. I approached the farmer and asked, where it had
come from? He told me, that some months earlier they had drained the old
Mill Pond next to the New Steading (Farm) Building in order to do further
development and found the stone face down in the mud. They knew it was
something different and thankfully placed all the large stones they had
found on a mound near the road side. |
