At the Home Farm Rothiemay,
Aberdeenshire, Scotland in a field next to the B9117 are the remains of the largest Neolithic stone circle in the area at 80ft diameter. Its Recumbent or Alter stone is marked with 50 Cup marks some Ringed and it is believed that they match the constellation of the stars in the area at the time. Two of the stones where removed in the middle of the 1800's and placed at the North Gate to Rothiemay Castle. But they were eventually put back in their original place, as it is said! "That the farm suffered bad luck during the time of stones removal". |
