Enemy Tanker attacked in Norwegian fjord led by W/C N.H. Jackson,
DFC a large force of RAF Coastal Command mosquitoes penetrated the heavily
defended anchorage of Sande Fjord on the 4th April 1945. A mass
attack was made on 6 enemy-armed merchantmen and a tanker in dry dock. In Spite
of intense flack, the attack was pressed home and many hits with rocket
projectiles were scored. The Tanker was hit by more than 30 rockets and it was
seen to explode. P.O. Harnett stated that over 40 miles away, the anchorage
could be seen to be covered with a terrific pal of smoke. PICTURE SHOWS:
