Angus McIntosh who made what Max Aitken told him
that it wass 'the best belly landing he'd ever seen', although Angus says they
almost hit the control tower as they came in without flaps, undercarriage or
hydraulics after a strike. Angus was awarded the DFC, and was (as records will
show) was singularly credited with the destruction of a U-boat in April 1945.
Unfortunately, the U-boat which exploded after Angus's attack, brought down an
RAF film unit mossie as well, with flying debris, and both crew members were
killed.
